Those who were successful in their unlock quest had to restore their jailbroken iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS in order get their iPhones unlocked because this procedure requires Apple’s interference via iTunes and the mothership releases an unlock request only when you connect a Deactivated iPhone to iTunes.

A good news just when you need it, famous iOS developer and hacker pod2g who is also a prominent member of Chronic Dev team has just announced that he has all exploits required to jailbreak iOS 5.1 untethered. Apple released iOS 5.1 last month when they introduced third generation of iPad, iOS 5.1 was jailbroken within 24 hours of it’s released but the jailbreak was limited to non A5 devices only which means iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and all new iPad were not supported. Currently we have a tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 which means you have to connect your iOS device to computer and boot it in a jailbroken state every time you reboot.
